Things, Stuff Etc.

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary, we mostly spent the weekend being in Cardiff. Cardiff is relevant because it is where the stuff happened 9 years and five months ago that led to us getting married. That was a very weird weekend and it’s oft forgotten that I came back to Bath on Sunday night for about 3 hours before hurridly being ushered off to Southampton where I suppose I belonged. We didn’t see each other again for about 6 weeks, and then not again for about 2 months, It was a very strange time.

Cardiff this time (which is incidentally only the second time I have been there) was slighty less interesting, but still quite fun. We saw the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra, and despite a barrage of questions about what distinguished a Philharmonic and Symphony orchestra (nothing) and how many clarinets there were and why (four, because there are), we enjoyed ourselves. They were also kind enough to play the dambusters for us plebs at the end. We also went to the Welsh National Museum which was mostly in Welsh, contained dinosaurs and smelled faintly of bacon. The highlight of the museum was the theatre in which you were encouraged to sit down while they dimmed the lights dramatically before showing you a video about how old the universe was (in welsh) which lasted about 30 seconds before bringing lights up, dimming them again and then showing you another video about how old the universe was in English. I also bought a new suit, but that was in Marks and Spencers, not the museum.

In other news, my wedding ring still doesn’t fit, I still don’t have a Wii and Jessops haven’t got back to us about getting a replacement camera.

There has been quite a bit of driving recently, on wednesday night I went down to see Rebecca Birch‘s MA show exhibition at the slade, was fun and we went to Bloomsbury Lanes afterwards, which was particularly fun (especially for us yokels).

The weekend, we spent mostly driving too, coming up to see parents etc. On saturday we went to see my grandmother-in-law who is a bit deaf and smlies and nods a lot. I left M & parents to go shopping in asda and drove home via a rather circuitous route (i.e. I got lost). Fortunately I’d borrowed my Dad’s old car so it was more fun than annoying.

Sunday we went to Ashby-De-La-Zouch which until recently was aparrently the biscuit capital of the UK. They appear to have mostly knocked down the McVities factory now and are aparrently in the process of turning it into even more 2-3 bedroom semis.

dizze and me have just got back from our ride to Weston Super Mare (120km) all a bit harder than last time, probably attributable to the slight hangover from Entropy. On the way back I was viciously attacked by a smallish dog (which seemed to completely ignore dizz), I was reminded of the last bit of The Cyclists‘ appearence in monkey dust… Did you know that Irish terriers can run at 38km/h while still barking and snapping at your ankles?
